Give your team a conversation to learn from together.
Choose a moment that matters in your field. Each person practices toward the same objective and gets feedback on their own words. In supervision, a learner can bring one exchange and ask, “What else could I have done here?”
“Last time you told me to come back with an answer, so I waited until I understood the risk. Now you’re asking why I didn’t tell you sooner.”
Your objective · Make it clear when Kendall should flag a staffing gap, even if coverage is unconfirmed. Acknowledge your earlier instruction and find out how Kendall understands the expectation.
Read an illustrative exchange and feedback
You · I told you to bring me an answer. I can see how that left you guessing about when to flag the gap.
Kendall · Even if I’m still waiting to hear whether someone can cover?
What the review could show · You owned the mixed instruction. Kendall asked a specific question about when to speak up. The expectation still needs an answer.
A supervisor and a practitioner identify a situation their role regularly asks them to handle. AMIGA helps select a fictional case and an objective they can recognize in the exchange.
Bring one exchange to coaching
Each learner completes the six exchanges and chooses what to share. Read the learner’s response beside the person’s next words. Discuss where the objective moved forward or remained open.
Try the skill again
Use another situation with the same objective. Compare what the learner actually said on the two occasions. Decide which skill needs another opportunity and what support the team can offer.
Agree on access before the first invitation
Choose the roles and group size, the time staff can use, and who will lead the coaching discussion. AMIGA will discuss licensing, support, pricing and any reporting your organization needs.
Learners can choose an exchange to share. Authorized AMIGA administrators may review completed practice conversations. Team reporting and supervisor access require an agreement. Private journals and Functional Closure reflections stay outside the team discussion unless the learner chooses to share them.
Which conversation keeps coming up for your staff?
Tell AMIGA who has it, what their role requires and what you would want them to be able to do differently. That gives us a starting point for a pilot.
